Artemis, a calm web reader, is available (in beta)

For the last few months, I have been working on Artemis, a calm web reader. I use Artemis to follow my favourite blogs and websites. In designing Artemis, I had a few goals in mind:

  1. I want Artemis to be part of a web exploration journey, so every web link takes you to the author’s websites.
  2. I want the interface to make me feel calm, not overwhelmed like other readers.
  3. I want the tool to be slow so I don’t feel compelled to check it regularly.

Artemis updates once per day at ~12am UK time, adding all posts available at the time of the update. No matter how many times you check throughout the day, the contents of the reader will be the same. There are no notifications, no metrics — no numbers. But there is a cute cat mascot.

Artemis was initially a static tool for me. It reflects how I want to keep up to date with websites and creators whose work I apperciate. I am really happy with how the software works and I wanted other people to be able to use it easily too. I am excited to say that Artemis is now available for others to use.

Here is what the interface looks like:

You can customise the accent colour to be what you want!

If you are looking for a calm web reader and want to try Artemis, email me at [email protected] and ask for an invite code. I’ll make sure you’re all set up!
