The Underground guitarist | James’ Coffee Blog

Sweet Caroline, ba ba ba. Good times never been so good., sang, passionately, a group of friends who had just disembarked a London Underground train. I was at the foot of the escalator to go back to street level.

As I went up, I saw people glancing, with joy, at the people singing who were down at the bottom of the escalator – the busker, with the microphone, and the group of friends that sounded like a crowd singing. I noticed a few other people muttering the song to themselves, too. After all, it is impossible to not sing Sweet Caroline in your head or aloud when you hear the famous chorus.

In that moment, that lasted for perhaps 30 seconds, there was a mini concert in the Underground: the busket and the friends, and anyone else that joined, singing, together. I smiled and found joy in all the people whose expressions lit up at the moment.

I was delighted by how a few people can brighten someone’s day by singing a few words. Now, as I write, I can find myself on the brink of breaking into song. I’m humming that famous chorus, and said, with passion, ba ba ba Good times never been so good!_
